The acronyms, those acronyms that are pronounced like words, have long been part of Spanish. In this way, we find many acronyms such as UFO which is the combination of several Spanish words, or other LEDs that come from English and are part of the the language stream.

This is the same as the terms LOL, OMG y WTF, popular English expressions that are increasingly used in the written language. But what is its meaning? LOL has two senses that are attached to the same idea, laugh out loud.

Indeed, LOL It can mean “lots of laughs”, that is to say “many laughs” in English, or “laughing out loud”, which means that the person using it laughs a lot. In both cases, when the acronym LOL is written, it indicates that the person is happy and finds what is said funny.

The meaning of OMG It comes from an expression widely used by Americans, "oh my god", that is to say "oh my god" in Spanish. This acronym is used as a general rule to mark surprise or strangeness.

As for the acronym WTF, it is not always a welcome acronym because its meaning can offend. Indeed, it contains the word "fuck" which is a bit strong in English. The term WTF means "what the fuck" which in Spanish corresponds to "fuck you." This expression, given its somewhat familiar tone, can reflect surprise as well as, in most cases, annoyance and indignation.
