Worldview of the pre-Columbian world

All the pre-Columbian cultures of the American continent were undoubtedly great and developed civilizations. These towns where the Mayan, Aztec, Inca, Nazca and other cultures had a particular worldview that they transmitted to their generations and that to this day is followed by many autochthonous ethnic groups from countries such as Mexico, Guatemala and Peru.

These peoples were closely related to agriculture and therefore to the study of the heavens they believed that they had a strong cause-effect relationship. As you well know, their gods were partly earthly beings (Earth, Water, etc.) and celestial (The Sun, the moon and the stars).

The Maya for their part developed a particular calendar and built their temples based on strategic positions that are in perfect harmony with the cosmos. Such is the case of Chichen Itza pyramid in Mexico.

If we move to Peru we will notice that the Incas also made the same system and that for example the mystical citadel of Machu Picchu in Cuzco, considered like Chichén Itzá, as one of the new wonders of the modern world, is built based on astronomical plans. It is said then that these sacred sites are charged with a special energy thanks to the influence of heavenly bodies.

On the Peruvian coast, precisely in Nazca, south of Lima, we find an enormous agricultural calendar called The Nazca Lines, made by the culture that bears the same name as the locality. It is therefore a question of giant anthropomorphic images that correspond to a detailed study of the sky, and that served to know what would be the best times to sow and harvest.
